Stocked Parts
We drive from Denver for every Westminster call - there's no branch or depot out here, so what we bring is what's on the truck that day. For panel work, that means we carry common steel section sizes and standard hardware to match doors from the 1980s-90s building wave that makes up most of this area's stock. A color or texture match on an older door is a real limitation: paint fades differently over 35+ years than a new panel straight off a stock run, so a single replaced section can look slightly different than the rest of the door until it weathers.
We won't pretend a stocked panel is always a perfect match. If your door is an oddball width, a custom color, or an insulated panel from a builder line that isn't common anymore, that's a special-order part, and we'll tell you the lead time before we book the job rather than after. What we can usually match on the truck: standard raised-panel steel sections in the widths that fit doors built through the late 1980s and 1990s, which covers the bulk of what's out there in Westminster.
Can You Do This Yourself
A single panel swap on a sectional door is within reach for someone comfortable with a drill and a ladder, provided the door is off its spring tension side - meaning you're not disturbing the torsion spring itself, just unbolting hinges and sliding a section out. Where it stops being a weekend project: if the hardware around that panel is original 1980s-vintage and the hinges or rollers are worn enough that they won't hold a new section true, you're now doing a hardware job, not a panel job, and that's where an out-of-square door or a track that binds becomes a spring-tension problem - which is not a DIY repair.
On a cold-severe climate like this one, there's also a seasonal factor: steel contracts in the cold, and a panel that seats fine in July can bind in January if the alignment was off to begin with. If you're set on doing it yourself, at minimum have the hinges and rollers checked first - replacing a panel onto hardware that's already failing is a wasted afternoon.
